Once you’ve landed, our representative will meet you with a white silk scarf embossed with eight lucky symbols, in accordance with Bhutan’s reverence for symbolism to ensure an auspicious start of your journey.
The road to Thimphu, the royal capital, takes about fifty minutes amidst the villages and rice fields of the Paro Valley, including the six hundred years old Tamchog Temple.
Once in Thimphu, there is no lack of fascinating places to visit, starting with the Dordenma Statue – the largest seated Buddha statue in the world, over 50 meters tall and made of bronze and gilded gold, as well as the Memorial Chorten at the center of the city, dedicated to His Majesty the Third King of Bhutan, or even the Tashichodzong, the Fortress of Auspicious Doctrine, where the royal government houses the throne room and offices of the King.

The day begins with a drive to Sharna Zampa where we will begin the trek towards Thangthangkha along a trail with repeating ups and downs as we make our way to our first campsite, and if the weather permits, hopefully have a great view of Mt. Jomolhari.
Thangthangkha - Jangothang
19 Km, 5-6 hour trek
Today we will be making our way to one of the most beautiful campsites in the Himalayas, Jangothang, offering an even more spectacular view of Mount Jomolhari. But to get there, we will first have to hike through the Paro Chhu valley amidst meadows and brief patches of forest until we reach an army checkpoint.
We will then continue and follow our trail through the villages of Soe, Takethang, and Dangochang, with a magnificent view of snowcapped peaks and high mountain ridges until we arrive to our destination.
Jangothang to SoiYaktsa
16 Km, 6-7 hour trek
The trail will take us to the last settlement to be found in this valley, and drops to the Paro Chhu where we will pass the lake of Tshophu, and climb up a steep path to Bhonte La Pass, at 4,890m. This will be the highest point in our trek, and a fantastic place for pictures.
Once we’ve reached the Dhumzo Chhu river, we will trek downstream as make our way to our camp.
SoiYaktsa - Thombu Shong
11 Km, 4-5 hour trek
The trail begins by climbing about a hundred meters over a ridge, only to drop to another stream, and after crossing the Takhung La Pass, our descent begins to Thombu Shong, where we will camp near yak herder huts.
Thombu Shong - Gunitsawa Village
13 Km, 4-5 hour trek + drive
Today will consist of crossing Thombu La Pass on our way to Gunitsawa, where you will be picked up and driven to Paro, for the remainder of the day to be spent relaxing at your hotel or exploring the town, and then a comfortable night in a warm bed.
